The RED wire is the power connection and should be hooked to a fused contact for safety, but any power (B+) connection will work.

This item gets plugged into the stereo and the red wire is your power. It can not be plugged into an amp.

This is a standard plug in for newer radios from the mid 90's and up. If you have a older vehicle you may need an adapter
